Christian marriage counselling in Singapore

Every marriage has hard seasons. Asking for help isn't a sign that yours has failed. Often it's a sign that you both still care enough to try.

Marriage is one of the main areas on Pray.sg, so you can look specifically for counsellors who walk with couples.

When it might be time to seek help

There's no rule, but couples often reach out when:

  • The same argument keeps coming back, and neither of you feels heard.
  • You've stopped really talking, and live more like housemates.
  • Trust has been broken, through an affair, hidden money, or something else.
  • A big change, such as a new baby, a loss, or caring for a parent, has put a strain on you both.

You don't need to wait for a crisis. Many couples say they wish they'd gone sooner.

Going together, or going alone

Going together is often best, because a counsellor can hear both of you. But if your spouse isn't ready, going on your own is still worth it. You can work on how you respond, find support, and pray about the next step.

On Pray.sg, a booking is made from one person's account. If you'd like to come as a couple, say so in the note that asks what you'd like to talk about. If you're unsure whether a counsellor sees couples together, ask them a question before you book.

If your schedules are hard to line up, some counsellors offer online sessions, and some offer both online and in person.

When couples counselling isn't the first step

If there is violence, threats, or you feel afraid of your spouse, your safety comes first. In those situations, joint sessions are often not recommended, and it's usually wiser to speak to someone on your own first. Pray.sg lists counsellors who work with abuse and trauma. If you are in danger right now, call the police on 999, or 995 for an ambulance.

What to look for in a marriage counsellor

  • Marriage in their areas. Filter the directory by Marriage. Family conflict and reconciliation are mainly listed under Conflict.
  • Their training and approach. Everyone listed counsels in their own capacity, under their own training and their own church. Each one is reviewed before they're listed, but it's still fair to ask how they work with couples.
  • Practical fit. Check the languages they speak, whether they meet in person or online, and their fee.
  • Fairness. A good counsellor helps you both feel heard and doesn't take sides.
  • Shared foundations. Pray.sg describes its marriage counsellors as helping couples with wisdom rooted in Scripture. If that matters to you both, it's a good thing to look for.

What about cost?

Some counsellors are free, some ask for a donation, some charge a set fee and some discuss it with you. You'll see any fee before you book. Where there's a fee, you pay the counsellor directly, and Pray.sg takes no commission.

Take the first step together
