Is Christian counselling free in Singapore?
25 September 2026
Sometimes, yes. On Pray.sg, some counsellors are free and some charge, and you'll see any fee before you book.
If cost is the thing making you hesitate, here's how it works, so you can stop wondering and start looking.
Four ways a counsellor can handle cost
Every counsellor on Pray.sg chooses one of these for themselves:
- Free. They don't charge for sessions.
- By donation. You give what you can, if you wish.
- A set fee. A fixed amount for each session, shown on their profile.
- Fee on request. They talk about the fee with each person.
You can filter the directory by fee, so if free or donation-based counselling is what you need, you can see only those counsellors.
Where your money goes
When a counsellor has a set fee, you pay them directly. Pray.sg takes no commission, and it never processes, holds or refunds that money.
The order is simple. Nothing is paid when you send a booking request. If the counsellor accepts, you pay them by PayNow from your dashboard, and where you'll meet is shown once they confirm your payment. Knowing that in advance means nothing catches you off guard.
Looking and asking cost nothing
Browsing the directory is free, and you don't need an account just to look. There's no fee to approach anybody, and no obligation once you have.
If you'd like to ask a counsellor something before you decide, such as how their donation works or whether they could see you more than once, you can send them a question without booking. You'll need to sign in to Pray.sg for that, so only you and the counsellor see what you write.
What about counselling through a church?
Some counsellors serve free through a church. Many churches also offer pastoral care or counselling to their own members, so if you belong to a church, it's worth asking your pastor what's available. Other organisations set their own prices, and it's best to ask them directly.
Cost isn't the same as fit
A fee, or the lack of one, doesn't tell you whether someone is right for you. Everyone listed on Pray.sg counsels in their own capacity, under their own training and their own church, and each one is reviewed before they're listed.
So alongside cost, look at the areas they work in, the languages they speak, whether they meet in person or online, and what they say about how they work. Some profiles also show their church.
A few questions you might ask any counsellor about cost:
- Is the fee per session, and roughly how many sessions do people usually need?
- If it's by donation, is there an amount you'd suggest?
- What happens if I need to cancel?
Take the next step
Money worries are real, and they shouldn't be the reason you go without help. Start by browsing Christian counsellors on Pray.sg, use the fee filter if it helps, and ask a question if anything is unclear.
