How to teach your child to pray
For parents of children aged 4 to 6: pray a few words together at the same times each day, and let your child copy you.
Jesus welcomed little children and told his disciples not to stop them (Mark 10:14). Every line to say together is from the Bible.

At meals
Say thank you before you eat, and let your child name one thing they are glad for today. Say together:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good
Psalm 136:1 (ESV)
At bedtime
Sit on the bed and give the day to God. Two short lines are enough for a tired child. Say together:
In peace I will both lie down and sleep
Psalm 4:8 (ESV)
When they are scared
Thunder, a bad dream, the first day of school: hold their hand and pray about the fear. Say together:
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Psalm 56:3 (ESV)
When they did wrong
After the tears, say sorry to God together, then tell them he forgives (1 John 1:9). Say together:
God, be merciful to me, a sinner!
Luke 18:13 (ESV)
For someone they love
Let your child pick one person, a grandparent or a friend who is sick, and say their name to God. Say together:
The LORD bless you and keep you
Numbers 6:24 (ESV)
